What is EMDR?

Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.

What is it like?

What to Expect During 53-Minute EMDR Sessions

In the initial EMDR sessions, we will focus on understanding your goals and enhancing your ability to manage distress. As we progress, you will be guided to concentrate on a specific traumatic event. During this phase, the therapist will facilitate sets of bilateral stimulation—using side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps—while you reflect on the event.

After each set, you’ll be encouraged to notice any thoughts, insights, or emotional shifts that arise. This process can lead to profound changes in your perceptions, feelings, and beliefs about the event. We will repeat these sets until the traumatic memory becomes less distressing, helping you move toward healing and recovery.

Experience the transformative power of EMDR therapy in our structured 53-minute sessions, designed to support your journey to mental wellness.

How is EMDR different from other therapies?

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue and it does not require completing homework in between sessions. EMDR therapy focuses on changing the emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that have resulted from the distressing event, and allows for the brain to resume natural healing.

What is Trauma?

Trauma, in its many forms, can cast long shadows over our lives, leaving profound imprints on our hearts and minds. It emerges from harrowing experiences, both seen and unseen, and often goes unspoken.

Trauma can take root in the aftermath of a distressing event, a series of challenging circumstances, or even the complex tapestry of childhood. It leaves us grappling with emotional scars, altering our perception of the world, and sometimes even reshaping our very identities.

Understanding and acknowledging trauma is the first step toward healing. It's a journey of courage, resilience, and self-compassion. It's about finding your voice, reclaiming your power, and forging a path toward a brighter, more empowered future.

Throughout your therapy journey, you'll find wisdom, support, and guidance to help you navigate the depths of trauma. It is possible to shed light on the darkness, to reinstill hope, and to discover that, even in the face of trauma, there's a way to heal, to grow, and to thrive once more. Only you can decide to explore the intricate terrain of your trauma and find pathways to resilience, recovery, and renewed strength.
